Andrew Pickett has been a resident of Brevard County since 1987. He graduated from Satellite High School in 2000 before earning his undergraduate degree in Philosophy from the University of Virginia in 2004.
His study of philosophy sharpened the critical thinking and logical analysis that would later define his approach to the law. Andrew went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the University of Florida before continuing his legal education at the University of Miami, where he obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.).
The rigorous LL.M. program further developed Andrew’s analytical abilities and deepened his understanding of complex statutes and case law. Early in his legal career, he was mentored by a federal prosecutor who invited him to observe a federal criminal jury trial. Experiencing the intensity and high stakes of the courtroom reinforced Andrew’s passion for litigation and confirmed that he was meant to be a trial attorney.
Andrew began his legal career as a prosecutor with the 18th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office in Brevard County. During that time, he handled thousands of cases ranging from misdemeanors to serious felony charges and developed extensive courtroom experience. His time as a prosecutor strengthened his trial skills and instilled a strong commitment to advocating for victims who had been wronged.
While working in the criminal justice system, Andrew saw firsthand that even successful prosecutions often did little to provide meaningful compensation to victims. That realization ultimately led him to transition into civil litigation, where he could help injured individuals pursue justice and recover the financial compensation needed to rebuild their lives.
Andrew founded Andrew Pickett Law in Downtown Melbourne with a deep commitment to serving the Brevard County community he has called home for decades. Supported by an experienced legal team, the firm is dedicated to thoroughly investigating every case and preparing each matter as if it will go to trial.
What distinguishes Andrew Pickett Law from many personal injury firms is Andrew’s extensive jury trial experience and his willingness to take cases to court when necessary. Over the course of his career, he has tried more than 50 jury trials to verdict, equipping him with the experience needed to stand up to insurance companies and large corporations in the courtroom.
Andrew remains committed to continually refining his advocacy skills and trial techniques. In 2018, he graduated from Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College, an intensive three-week program focused on advanced trial advocacy. The training helped strengthen the trial strategies he later used to secure a $2.5 million jury verdict against State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in 2019.
Today, Andrew continues to invest significant time in developing his courtroom skills and studying areas such as cognitive science and psychology to better understand juries and communicate effectively in trial settings.
