At Andrew Pickett Law, we believe community safety starts with prevention. While we work every day to help people after serious accidents, we also know many tragedies never have to happen in the first place, especially when it comes to impaired driving.
That is why we launched our Safe Ride Home campaign for New Year’s Eve, a community initiative designed to help Brevard County residents get home safely after celebrating. New Year’s Eve is widely recognized as one of the highest-risk nights of the year for drunk driving, and our goal was to make the safer choice easier and more accessible.
Through the Safe Ride Home campaign, we sponsored over $10,000 in Lyft ride credits, offering $20 ride vouchers to help reduce the risk of impaired driving and prevent avoidable injuries and fatalities in our community.
Why We Created the Safe Ride Home Campaign
As a personal injury law firm, we have seen firsthand how devastating drunk driving crashes can be. They change lives instantly and leave families dealing with consequences that never should have occurred.
In local coverage of this initiative, Attorney Andrew Pickett shared that Safe Ride Home was inspired by a tragic impaired driving case involving the death of a 32-year-old. That case was a reminder that one decision, choosing a ride instead of driving, can prevent irreversible loss.
Safe Ride Home was created with a simple mission: help people plan ahead, avoid unnecessary risk, and make it home safely.
How the Campaign Worked
Safe Ride Home vouchers were offered on a first-come, first-served basis and were available for use during the New Year’s Eve timeframe outlined in our campaign details. The goal was to remove barriers that might keep someone from getting a ride, especially when rideshare demand is high, and people are making quick decisions late at night.
Campaign highlights included:
- Over $10,000 in Lyft ride credits sponsored by Andrew Pickett Law
- $20 Lyft voucher codes, limited to one per person
- Rides required to be within Brevard County
- Availability was limited to the campaign window on New Year’s Eve
The Safe Ride Home campaign has now ended, and vouchers are no longer available.
A Safer Community Starts with Everyday Decisions
When people make the decision to use a rideshare instead of driving after drinking, it protects more than just the driver. It protects passengers, pedestrians, other families on the road, and the entire community.
We are proud to have launched this initiative for Brevard County and grateful to everyone who participated responsibly and helped keep our roads safer on New Year’s Eve.
Community Awareness and Local News Coverage
One of the most meaningful parts of this campaign was seeing the community conversation it sparked. We are grateful to WESH 2 News for covering Safe Ride Home and helping raise awareness around the importance of planning a safe ride on New Year’s Eve.
Local news coverage does more than highlight an initiative. It helps bring attention to the realities of impaired driving and encourages more people to make responsible choices, especially on nights when the risk is highest.
